A delightful and delicate watercolour painting of a river landscape, signed by the artist and dated 1895.
The artist has executed a very light touch in presenting this beautiful riverside scene. It's a clever technique. With the background elements pale and faded, this purposely draws you in to look more closely, which makes the detail of the trees and house then stand out. It's a very sweet piece.
The artist has drawn a frame around the piece, adding depth on the right hand side of the paper to make it stand out.
The painting is in good condition but there is a small water mark in the bottom left corner.
The original frame the painting is in has suffered some damage, with numerous losses to the edging and borders. This is still fragile with some loose sections. But this does add a timeworn charm to this pretty piece.
