Edwardian White Ironstone Picnic Butter Pot
A delightful large size white Edwardian ironstone butter pot complete with its original lid, which would have either been part of a picnic set or carried in a basket with bread.
This ironstone butter pot has the word “Butter” indented around the edge of the lid, with black transfer print finishing it off. On the base the original Caracle brand trademark can be seen.
The pot is in good overall condition. There is some light crazing and discoloration in places both inside and out, and minor wear to the base. There is a small chip to the top rim of the lid and a very faint hairline close to this, which may have occurred at the same time.
Perfectly usable, the pot could once again be used to transport butter on picnics (the ironstone keeping the butter cool) if it was tied together with some leather or ribbon. It’s also a great size for day to day use in the kitchen.
Height, 9.5cm; Width, 7.5cm.
