Large Antique Victorian White Ironstone Ladle or Soupiere Spoon
This listing is for a white ironstone ladle, dating from the 1860s, in excellent condition.
This antique ironstone ladle would more than likely have been part of a soupiere set. Although now on its own, these white ceramic ladles are still perfect for use serving soup, casseroles or even punch and cocktails. In a classically simple & elegant design, these plain white ladles also make for wonderful display items, especially as part of a white ironstone collection.
This example has a delicate, embossed pattern to the end of the handle. A date mark ‘N’ is embossed on the base of the spoon.
In lovely condition, there are no cracks or chips. There is some faint tea stain coloured crazing all over, which is more notable on the handle and base of the spoon, as well as some minor wear to the handle. However, these all add to the charm of the piece.
