Vintage Mid Century Large White Enamel Bread Bin

antique edwardian 1920s smiths crisps shop display glass jar counter

A great large sized vintage enamel bread bin, ideal for a rustic kitchen feel.

This retro white bread bin dates from the mid twentieth Century, most likely the 1950s. It is a great size, suitable for holding several different loaves or cakes. The top rim is in a rich royal blue colour, which is visible when the lid has been lifted off. The original blue rim to the base has unfortunately now faded. This bin has its original red label, with the word “Bread” in mustard contrast colouring. This makes the bin quite quirky and stand out in comparison to other similar pieces.

It is in fair condition for its age. There is some corrosion and wear to the enamel, most notably on the bin’s lid and around the base. This is very normal for these old enamel bread bins, and is part of the retro charm and character of the piece. The inside edge of the base has also corroded around the edge, but is still usable. It will be important to keep the inside free from moisture.

Height, 33cm; Width, 35cm; Depth, 26.5cm.
