Vintage Mid Century Mason’s Ironstone Ham Stand for Harrods in Denmark White & Blue Pattern

vintage mid century masons white ironstone harrods ham stand denmark pattern blue white

A wonderful example of ironstone ware at its finest, in mint condition.

This vintage Mason’s Ironstone ham stand dates from the mid twentieth Century. It is complete with a Mason’s transfer print mark from this period on its base, showing that it was made exclusively for Harrods.

The mark reads: “Mason’s Patent Ironstone Made in England. Made Especially For Harrods By Mason’s Ironstone”

Ceramic ham stands were commonly used in shops in the early to mid twentieth Century to display the meats and hams that provision, grocers and butchers shops had available for sale.

This stand is rare in that it was produced specifically for Harrods. Rather than being used in the shop itself, it’s more likely this was part of an exclusive range sold in the Harrods shop. The Denmark pattern is one the most popular styles produced by Mason’s and Harrods would have sold an exclusive range of these wares. It is now rare to find them.

This is a heavy and quality vintage piece, which shows off the quality of ironstone, in mint condition. It is perfect for a modern kitchen, and really comes into its own used as a display piece during family celebrations, Easter or Christmas.

This piece is in excellent condition with no damage, cracks or crazing. The only signs of wear are some slight discoloration to the rim of the base where it is unglazed, and some odd marks to the surface.
