Vintage Stoneware Hollow Dummy Laying Eggs

vintage ceramic ironstone hollow hens dummy laying eggs

These highly sought after vintage stoneware dummy eggs are a perfect display piece. They were used in chicken coops to encourage hens to lay more eggs before plastic overtook as the material of choice to produce them with. They are available to purchase individually.

These mid to late Century examples are all unglazed in a pure white colour, although they have varying degrees of discoloration from use. Some are very clean, which points to them not having been used.

All of these eggs are hollow and lightweight examples and there is therefore a hole of the underside of each egg. However, they can still be displayed either in a basket or egg rack.
