Rare Vintage German Wax Springerle or Gingerbread Moulds Depicting A Noble Gentleman & Lady
This pair of wax springerle moulds are likely to date from the mid 20th Century, produced from an impression of an original pair of antique treen moulds depicting a noble lady and gentleman.
Both the moulds feauture lots of carved detail, the lady complete with a parasol and the gentleman with his dog at his feet. The level of detail on them both is exquisite. On the side of one of the moulds the year ‘1806’ is carved into it. It is likely that this will be the date the original treen wooden moulds would have been produced. A twine is integrated on each of the moulds for wall hanging.
There are some odd knocks and marks to the wax but these are in overall excellent condition, with the carved detail still exceptionally clear.
