Early 20th Century Swiss Chocolate Knife Advertising The Berna Milk Company

1930s antique Meredith Drew glass shop counter advertising display jar

A beautiful example of a Swiss chocolate knife promoting the Berna Milk Company, in its original presentation box, dating from the early to mid 20th Century.

This is a lovely example of a piece of antique advertising. Made for the Berna Milk Company, this knife was most likely aimed at tourists who might be purchasing their chocolate in shops.

This is a sturdy piece, with a solid piece of stainless steel running the length of the knife, finished with a gold finished metal on each side embossed with “Lait Suisse Berna” and “Swiss Milk Berna” advertising the company on each side in both English and French.

Complete with its original presentation box, which has the company’s name and location (Thoune) in gold lettering, this piece is in overall excellent condition. There are some small patches of tarnishing, and the box shows signs of wear to the corners from use. However, the colouring and vibrancy of the gold metal finish is extremely impressive and it’s a very handsome piece of antique advertising ware.

The knife is sharp and is perfect for use to chop chocolate for recipes, or to simply enjoy!
