Antique Victorian Rustic Wirework Cake Cooling Rack with Raised Rail
A versatile, useful and decorative antique Victorian wirework cake cooling rack.
Dating to the late 1809s, this cooling rack is a great piece of antique kitchenalia to have in the home. Although it is simple in style, the wirework grid is has a crimped style which adds a nice decorative feature to this cake rack. The rack also features a rare raised bar around the edge, designed to prevent cakes from toppling off the edge. Great for ongoing use as a cake stand, but this rack would also look great displayed as part of a kitchenalia collection.
At more than 120 years old, this wirework rack does show signs of its age. Notably, the raised bar around the edge has bent and is misshaped. Some of the feet have also been bent a little, meaning not all of them are flush with the surface when standing up. However, it is still a very stable and sturdy item suitable for use with cakes. There are some areas of discolouration but there is no significant oxidisation meaning this is good to use.
Overall, it’s a very sweet item which looks lovely displayed in its own right but is also still a very usable piece of kitchenalia.
