Victorian White Ironstone English Advertising Pot – J Sainisburys Potted Meat

1930s antique Meredith Drew glass shop counter advertising display jar

This is a listing for one antique white ironstone medium-sized J Sainsbury’s potted meat crock, dating from the end of the 19th/early 20th Century.

These little ironstone jars are great examples of antique English advertising pots. In the standard size, they look wonderful on display as part of a kitchenalia or white ironstone collection, and are versatile to use in all rooms around the home.

At the time they were produced, these pots were discarded and thrown away. These have been dig from an old Victorian dump, and therefore feature aged crazing and staining. However, they are all in excellent condition and these features add a fantastic timeworn patina and charm.

Four pots are available in total, with varying degrees of crazing and staining as detailed below.

LEFT POT: Very clean, with a couple of small dents and some very light crazing

MIDDLE LEFT POT: Stained crazing in places and some minor dents to the base. However, overall this is a clean example

MIDDLE RIGHT POT: Light crazing all over which has stained in places, together with some rusty coloured discoloration, and some nibbles to the rim.

RIGHT POT: Stained crazing, most notably on the rear of the pot, with nibbles to the base.

Height, 6.5cm; Diameter, 5.5cm
