Antique Victorian White Ironstone English Advertising Pot – Seagers Potted Meat, Ipswich
This is a listing for a chippy Victorian white ironstone potted meat pot, advertising Seager’s of Ipswich.
Dating from the early 1900s, this is an example of an antique advertising white ironstone pot for potted meat. It features a large and clear black transfer print, in excellent condition, with typography framed in a ribbon banner, which says:
“SEAGER’S HOME MADE POTTED MEAT. IPSWICH”
Considered a throwaway item at the time it was produced, this English advertising pots was salvaged from an old Victorian dump and this pot does bear some scars of its time underground.
Overall, this is quite a clean example with a clear transfer print. There are patches of staining, some of which have stained, although these are more notable on the inside of the pot. There is a stained crack down the back of this pot, as well as some chips to the base. However, it nonetheless still displays well.
