Antique Victorian Large Banded White Ironstone Footbath – Ideal Drinks Cooler or Planter
A wonderful late Victorian plain white ironstone foot bath, ideal for display around the bone or for use as a planter or impressive drinks cooler at parties.
Dating from the late 19th Century, this white ironstone footbath is in nice clean condition, with very little crazing. It has attractive scroll handles on each side and the piece itself is finished off with barrel effect bands.
It is in very good condition considering it’s age and former life as a foot bath. The main body is quite clean overall, with no crazing. There are scuff marks, mainly focused around the base and on the inside base. These are no doubt from being kicked around a little during use. The scrolled handles are in tact and there are no chips on the piece. There is a small crack to the glaze on one side of the footbath, which appears to be a glazing fault. There is also a crack in the base of the piece but it is stable and tight.
Overall, it’s a great antique piece which adds a real sense of grandeur used around the home in modern times.
