Quality Victorian Meat Cleaver with Brass Collar & Mahogany Turned Treen Handle

Antique nineteenth Century large meat cleaver steel blade brass collar turned mahogany wooden treen handle

This antique Victorian cleaver oozes quality and style.

Dating from the nineteenth Century, this stunning cleaver features a sharp steel blade with a wonderful hammered patina, a brass collar and impressive turned mahogany handle. It is a heavy and weighty piece, which adds to the overall quality.

This cleaver would have been at home in a country house or estate. It’s been kept in excellent condition since then, with only the steel showing signs of any age through use and sharpening over the years. This has led to the steel having a hammered patina, enhancing the cleaver’s overall quality.

The cleaver is still very usable, with the handle extremely sharp. It would also make a wonderful decorative piece and a great focal point in any kitchen.

This is an exceptionally high quality piece in excellent condition. The only obvious signs of wear are to the steel which has an aged darker patina in places, and in som light tarnishing to the brass collar in places.

Length, 39.5cm (the blade is 15cm long, collar 3cm long); Width, 7cm (handle is 4.5cm at base).
