Victorian Antique White Ironstone English Advertising Paste Pot – GW Plumtree Potted Meat, Southport

1930s antique Meredith Drew glass shop counter advertising display jar

An antique white ironstone English advertising pot for G.W. Plumtree Southport potted meats, dating from the early 1900s.

This is a nice example of late Victorian/early twentieth Century Edwardian shop advertising in the form of a white ironstone pot for G.W. Plumtree, based in Southport. It was used to sell the manufacturer’s potted meats.

The standard sized pot features a large black transfer print which is in good condition. It reads:

“G.W. Plumtree
Manufacturer of Home Potted Meats
13 Railway St

This antique pot is in great aged condition, especially considering it was retrieved from an old Victorian dump – these objects were considered throwaway objects at the time! There is no crazing, although there are some odd spots of staining. There is a solid hairline in the base but this is stable and the transfer is nice and clear and there are no major chips or cracks apart from some minor nibbles to the top and base rims.

Height, 4cm; Width, 8.5cm

UK delivery included, international postage a maximum of £15.00 depending on location.
