Antique Victorian Carved English Wooden Butter Dish
A nice example of a carved English wooden butter dish, dating from the late Victorian period.
This carved wooden butter dish dates from the late 19th Century. It is in very good condition for its age, with the carved wooden gothic stylised lettering still very crisp and sharp.
The liner for this butter dish is missing, but these are excellent items to have on display in the kitchen, especially as part of a kitchenalia collection. A small butter pat can also be inserted to be able to make use of it.
In lovely condition, the wood is a little dry and may benefit from waxing if that look is desired. There is also a very slight warp to the base, which has raised blond side by a few millimetres. But this doesn’t detract, with the clear carving standing out.
