Late Victorian Antique Carved Sycamore Bread Board
A lovely example of a late Victorian antique English carved wooden bread board, with carved decoration, including the word ‘Bread’ in gothic style ornate lettering.
This sycamore board has some lovely detail and has worn wonderfully, with a lovely silky patina. The board features the word “Bread” in gothic style script, and also features long leaves and flower detail. It dates from around 1900.
As with most antique and vintage items, the board does show some signs of wear from use. There is scratching to the face of the board from use, which has worn the carved edge a little. There are two small burn marks towards the bottom left side of the board. There is also a small 1.5cm split on the left had side, which may have caused the board to warp slightly, sitting up 0.5cm on the right hand side when flat. However, the warping is minimal and the board is still perfectly usable. There is a small chip to the back edge of the board, which is barely notable from the front.
The board would make a wonderful addition to any kitchen, whether to show off on display or use to serve bread upon.
The board measures 30.5cm in diameter and 2cm high.
