Large White Ironstone English Advertising Pot – Two Pound Chubby Frank Cooper Oxford Marmalade

rare antique victorian large white ironstone chubby two pound frank cooper oxford marmalade white ironstone english advertising pot

This is a listing for ONE rare large Victorian two pound chubby Frank Cooper marmalade pot which is in a lovely clean condition with a light timeworn patina.

Made by the Maling factory in Newcastle in around 1900, these larger two pound “chubby” size English advertising pots are harder to source.

The Frank Cooper company produced their advertising pots for Seville marmalade in a variety of sizes, and this is the more scarce example of the chubbier, larger 2lb crock.

As most jars were discarded with common waste at the time, they often have discoloration and chips. However, this adds to their charm as highly decorative, weathered and chippy pieces.

This pot is in excellent, clean condition with a lovely timeworn patina to it. There are no chips or cracks and must some light crazing to the glaze. Some of this has taken on a very light coffee coloured staining, which adds a natural timeworn charm to the piece. The black transfer print is a little blurred in places but still legible, and there are some odd scuff marks. However, overall it’s a wonderful decorative piece.
