Antique Early 20th Century Carved English Butter Board with Glass Dish
A nice example of a carved English wooden butter dish or board, dating from the very start of the 20th Century, complete with its original glass liner.
Although this carved wooden butter dish is, on the face of it, quite simple in design, the carving on it is still very clear and it is in excellent condition still.
Complete with its original glass liner, these butter boards make excellent display items as part of a kitchenalia or treen collection, yet are also still immensely useful. The glass butter dish is removable, for those who would prefer to display this dish on its own.
In overall good condition, there are some mild staining marks to the board and some imperfections in the glass liner including a very fine crack on one edge (though this doesn’t penetrate through), some surface scratches and air bubbles in the glass. The board itself also has a crack on one side but this doesn’t go through the wood all the way through and so the board still sits flat.
