Antique Early to Mid Century Carved English Wooden Breadboard with Decorative Border of Wheat Ears and St George’s Cross
A nice chip carved treen wooden breadboard, dating from the early to mid 20th Century, with lovely honey colouring and rich patination.
This breadboard is a lovely usable piece of antique kitchenalia. Chip carved with a the St George’s Cross at its base and two pieces of wheat meeting at the top, the carving is simple but with some nice points of interest.
Although the board sits largely flat, there is a very slight warp at the front which raises it slightly. This has been caused by a small crack on the left hand side of the board which is stable. However, it’s nonetheless still a very usable piece of kitchenalia which also looks lovely on display.
There are some knife marks from use, and there some minor marks and staining from use. However, these have given the board and honest, timeworn patina, and the colouring has a rich, honey dew to it.
