Small Antique Edwardian White Ironstone Pot for G.W. Plumtree Southport Potted Meats
A smaller version of the antique white ironstone pot for G.W. Plumtree Southport potted meats, dating from the early 1900s.
This is a lovely example of late Victorian/early twentieth Century Edwardian shop advertising in the form of a white ironstone pot for G.W. Plumtree, based in Southport. It was used to sell the shop’s potted meats.
The pot features a black transfer print. As with all vintage and antique items, this does show some minor signs of its age and use. The black transfer has faded a little although it is still perfectly legible and the ironstone has yellowed inside the pot. There are also two small chips, one of which is a glazing fault from the time of production, the other on the rim which is 4mm x 2mm in size. This age and wear adds to the overall timeworn charm of the piece, though, making it an excellent display piece.
I have other similar ironstone advertising pots in stock so please do check my other listings. I am happy to combine postage wherever feasible.
