Rare Antique Victorian White Ironstone English Advertising Pot – W.A Turner Potted Meats of Stowmarket
A rare and lovely Victorian/Edwardian antique white ironstone packaging pot for W.A. Turner’s of Stowmarket, dating from the early 1900s.
This is a great – and rarely found – example of antique advertising white ironstone pot for potted meat. The pot features black transfer print advertising text, in excellent condition, which says:
“MADE ONLY BY W.A. TURNER BOND ST STOWMARKET”
Considered a throwaway item at the time it was produced, this English advertising pot was salvaged from an old Victorian dump. It is a very rare find and it is unlikely that many still exist given this comes from a very small market town in Suffolk, England, which had a very small population at the time this was produced.
In spite of its history, this pot is in very good condition. The transfer advertising is still clear and there are no cracks. It is largely in clean condition, with the main areas of staining inside and on the base. There is also some light crazing to the top rim and a small chip to the base rim. However, these don’t detract.
