Rare Antique Victorian Intricately Carved Treen Bread Knife with Floral Decoration
This is an excellent example of a Victorian deeply carved wooden English bread knife.
Dating from the late 1800s, this bread knife is exceptionally and intricately carved. Featuring three rosettes on the handle, these are layered against a leaf and vine backdrop, creating a beautiful and delicate effect. Although a little worn in places, the carving is still nice and deep. It is finished with a lovely finial end.
The steel blade has thinned a little through use and sharpening over the years but is fixed firmly in position and is good for many more years of use. There is a little tarnishing, as is normal for steel blades.
In overall excellent condition, this carved bread knife is perfect for day to day use in the kitchen or shown off on display as part of an antique kitchenalia or treen collection.
