Rare Victorian Large Two Pound Chubby White Ironstone English Advertising Pot – Frank Cooper Seville Marmalade

1930s antique Meredith Drew glass shop counter advertising display jar

This is a listing for one large Victorian two pound chubby Frank Cooper marmalade pot, the largest advertising pot shown in the covering photo.

Made by the Maling factory in Newcastle in around 1900, this larger two pound “chubby” size English advertising pot is harder to source.
The Frank Cooper company produced their advertising pots for Seville marmalade in a variety of sizes, and this is the more scarce example of the chubbier, larger crock.

As most jars were discarded with common waste at the time, they often have discoloration and chips. However, this adds to their charm as highly decorative, weathered and chippy pieces.

This is a nice and clean example, with no chips or cracks, and just a few odd patches of discoloration and crazing. Although a little faded, the black transfer print is still clearly legible and I particularly like the contrast of the bolder font against the Frank Cooper signature which features on these pots.

Please check my other listings for a variety of other antique advertising pots, which make excellent decorative pieces around the home.
