Rare 1960s Portmeirion White Ceramic Rolling Pin Featuring the Eearl Of Durham’s Coat of Arms With The Family Motto, ‘Le Jour Viendra’

1930s antique Meredith Drew glass shop counter advertising display jar

A lovely early piece of Portmeirion pottery, dating from the 1960s.

This is a great white ceramic rolling pin, produced by Portmeirion in the mid 20th Century. It features the impressive coat of arms for the Earl of Durham, with the family’s motto, “Le Jour Viendra” – the day will come – in under glaze black transfer print.

The pin is in lovely condition for its age. There is some crazing to the glaze, and a small spot of discoloration. But these features all add to the character of the piece.

As an early and rare piece of Portmeirion, it is a great collectors’ item but would also look wonderful as part of a whiteware collection.

Length, 35cm; Diameter of pin, 7cm
