Rare Antique Victorian Large Chubby Two Pound Frank Cooper Oxford Marmalade Advertising Pot

antique english victorian large two pound chubby frank cooper oxford marmalade advertising pot

This is a listing for ONE rare large Victorian two pound chubby Frank Cooper marmalade pot which has a unique chippy timeworn patina.

Made by the Maling factory in Newcastle in around 1900, these larger two pound “chubby” size English advertising pots are harder to source.

The Frank Cooper company produced their advertising pots for Seville marmalade in a variety of sizes, and this is the more scarce example of the chubbier, larger 2lb crock.

As most jars were discarded with common waste at the time, they often have discoloration and chips. However, this adds to their charm as highly decorative, weathered and chippy pieces.

This pot is in good overall condition with a lovely timeworn patina to it. There is a chip to the back rim but there are no cracks and it is a stable piece. Most notably, there is heavily stained crazing all over. But this gives the crock a unique aged appeal. The under glaze transfer print logo is still very clear and contrasts beautifully with the patina in the background.
