Rare Antique Victorian Embellished Bread Knife
This is a rarely seen example of a Victorian bread knife, with embellished detail.
Dating from the late 1800s, this bread knife is intricately embellished to form the word ‘Bread’ on its bone handle. While the handle does have a crack running along its middle, this doesn’t affect the writing in any way.
The steel blade is fixed firmly in position and bears the engraved markings for Joseph Rodgers and Sons, who were also cutlers to Queen Victoria. The steel is in good condition, with only small areas of tarnishing. It’s perfectly usable.
This bread knife is perfect for day to day use in the kitchen or shown off on display as part of an antique kitchenalia or treen collection.
