Rare Antique Edwardian White Ironstone Butchers Ham Stand Featuring Parnall & Sons Advertising Logo

antique edwardian rare white ironstone advertising ham stand parnall sons shop outfitters logo bristol smithfield

A rare Edwardian butchers or grocers ham stand, featuring prominent advertising for Parnall & Sons.

This antique white ironstone ham stand dates from the early 20th Century . It carries the signature Parnall & Sons black transfer maker’s mark, who were renowned shop outfitters at the time. The advertising logo features both their London & Bristol addresses.

Ceramic ham stands were commonly used in shops in the early part of the twentieth Century. They were used to display the meat provisions shops had available for sale.

This is a heavy and quality antique piece of ironstone with no chips or cracks, and is overall in good, clean condition. There is light crazing all over as well as some age spots and some light staining from where the stand has been in contact with meat produce. This is mainly focussed on the base of the stand (it would have been stood up the opposite way, and the logo would not have been on display, therefore this side of the stand has been well preserved).

A great piece of antique advertising which would fit well in a kitchenalia collection, and which is also a great display piece to use when entertaining, for example as a carving stand.
