Antique Early 20th Century Grocers Shop Advertising Sign for Brazilian Oranges

rare antique 1930s early 20th century tin lithographed grocers price spike advertising sign brazilian oranges

A nice antique early 20th Century grocers spike for ‘Brazilian Oranges’, which is perfect for adding a vintage touch to your kitchen styling.

Dating from the 1930s, tin shop advertising signs like this were very common in grocers shops in the early 20th Century. They would be used to help advertise their products within the shop, sitting alongside the products on display.

This lithographed sign has striking hand written red typography set against a pale yellow enamel background. While there is obvious wear, it is still legible and is great to display.

This sign is in fair condition for its age. There are chips and wear to the enamel on the front, mainly focused around the border. It has also oxidised towards the centre and on the right hand of the sign side a little. no cracks or chips to the tin or the spikes but there are patches of oxidisation to the front and back, as well as some losses to the lithographed finish. It also has the marks, scuffs and scratches that you would expect from a well used item of this type. The metal spike is well attached.
