Antique 1930s White Ironstone Maling Butter Dish with Hatched Black Typography
This is a great sized rare white barrel banded ironstone butter dish or crock made by the famous Maling pottery in the early part of the 20th Century.
Dating from the 1930s, this labelled ‘Butter’ dish in in excellent clean condition. It’s the perfect size for a family to use, either day to day or when entertaining. And it’s classic and highly sought after style looks fantastic on display at other times.
The lettering on this piece is particularly nice and isn’t often seen, with a hatched effect. Sadly, there is no lid with this piece but it is still perfectly usable.
The crock is in excellent condition, with a very clean appearance. There is some staining inside the base of the bowl, and on the underside, but this is quite mild and is also very common where the dairy produce has come into contact with the ironstone. There are also some minor patches of crazing, mostly inside the dish but also on the back of the piece.
