Rare Early 20th Century Banded White Ironstone Sanitary Brush Holder by Maling
A fantastic rare banded white ironstone ‘Sanitary Brush’ holder made by Maling in the early 20th Century.
Dating from the 1920s or 1930s, this is a scarcely seen white ironstone ‘Sanitary Brush’ pot, in lovely clean condition. Originally designed to be hold a toilet brush in the bathroom, this would have been a decadent item to have in the house.
This pot can obviously serve the same purpose now, or it could also be used as a kitchen tidy instead.
Considering it’s age – and original purpose – this white ironstone pot is in excellent condition. There is unfortunately a small chip in the right hand side of the pot, which measures approx 6mm wide and 5mm tall. This is small in comparison to the overall size of the pot, and it doesn’t detract greatly as it can’t be seen from the front or when looking down at the pot from the top.
Other than the chip, the pot is in very good condition. There is no staining or crazing and the black transfer print typography is still very clear and legible.
