This is a very sweet example of a mid Century ironstone butter dish, with a lovely moulded 'Butter' label to the front of it.
Dating from the mid 20th Century, this butter dish was made by Royal Winton Grimwades. An unusual shape, there is a moulded trail of foliage around the base of the dish. Sadly missing its lid, this is nonetheless a very decorative item and is still a great item to use when entertaining.
The dish itself is in fair condition for its age. It has patches of staining from years of use where it has come into contact with grease. There is also some light crazing in places. There is a very fine hairline crack at the front but the whole piece is solid.
