A delightful preserve jar produced by Wedgwood in 1953 to celebrate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.

This is a beautiful Wedgwood pot, with some lovely details. These include deep red rope around the middle, a cushioned effect of the fabric being pulled together and acanthus leaves on top. Most notable is the gold coloured Royal Cypher for Queen Elizabeth on the top of the pot, and the crown on the top. The base carries a Wedgwood mark, plus the date of Queen Elizabeth's coronation, as this was a decorative item produced at the time to mark the occasion.

And rarely, an original postage stamp from the time - the first to feature the young Queen's image - has also been stuck to the underside of the lid to further symbolise this occasion.

This preserve jar is in excellent condition. There is some very light crazing all over plus some rubbing to the tip of the crown and some light scuff marks in places. But there are no cracks or chips.
