Vintage Deeply Carved French Bread Wooden Bread Platter - Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread

A nice example of a rarely seen oval shaped antique French breadboard or bread platter with a deeply carved motto, dating from the early to mid 20th Century, with a "Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread" motto in French.

This oval bread plate stands out with its rich colouring and nicely carved details. The carving of the motto is very clear and crisp still, and each side of the board has nice detailing of a wheat ear. 

The motto is the French equivalent of Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread. It reads, “Donnez Nous Notre Pain Quotidien”.

This is a heavy and solid piece. There is some light wear to the main part of this platter from use, plus a small amount of loss to the edging at the top of the back of the board. Otherwise, though, this board is in very good condition. It sits flat and there is no damage to the carved details.
