Rustic Antique 19th Century French Carved Wooden Butter Brick with Rose Decoration

This is a lovely rustic antique French butter brick mould, dating from the nineteenth Century.

This mould would have been made in the 1800s. A lovely large size, there is a wonderfully carved roses and foliage pattern on the inside of the mould. Often, the carvings in these moulds helped to identify where butter or cheese was produced.

With its rustic patina, this would look beautiful simply sat proudly on display to give a rustic touch to your interior kitchen styling.

The mould is in fair overall condition considering its age. Rustic in style, the wood has an unwaxed finish to it. There are knocks, scuffs and marks to the wood from use over the years. Most notably, a section of the rim has fallen away over time. However, the piece is stable and there is no worm. Plus, the carved pattern is so stunning that it does not detract and instead adds more of a rustic, natural feel to the piece.
