Rare Large Antique French Boulangerie Stand

Oh my, I adore these. It's a large and imposing French tart rack, which would have been used in a boulangerie for cooling racks of freshly bakes tarts and pies.

If you have the space, I think these make the most wonderful display racks, especially for decorative plates.

This rack folds down for storage should you only wish to use it occasionally. 

It is in very good sturdy condition still. There is wear to the handle and locking mechanism which holds it in place when open, which have oxidised over time. There are also some old worm holes in places, but it has been treated. There is also some light bleaching to the wood in places, where it has been exposed to sunlight. However, should a richer colour be desired, this could be achieved with wax.
