This is a very rarely available extra tall banded white ironstone dairy jug dating from around 1900.

Large tall white banded ironstone pitchers are highly sought after and therefore difficult to source. This is understandable, given their simple & elegant appearance, and the versatility of their use around the home. Originally designed as large dairy jugs, they also double up as wonderful flower vases, or rustic kitchen utensil storage. They also look stunning sitting on display.

This example is by far the largest example I've come across, and is a very impressive piece. Made in the early part of the 20th Century, this jug carries an imprinted mark for Copeland on its base.

The jug is in excellent condition with no chips. There is crazing all over although this hasn't stained and the jug is in very clean condition. There is a small crack to the glaze on the handle but this doesn't penetrate through. There is also a crack to the base rim but this is stable and is an old flaw which isn't overly notable. Overall, the condition is impressive considering its age.

This is a rare example to find and is a beautiful shape.

Height, 28cm; Width, 22cm (including handle and spout); Diameter of jug, 17.5cm at base; 13.5cm at top.
