This is a listing for ONE rarely seen extra large French white ironstone advertising pot for Grey-Poupon mustard, dating from the mid to late 20th Century.
Like all French ironstone pots, this is a sturdy and heavy antique advertising pot. It is rare to find them in this larger size. Also shown in the photographs is the size comparison next to the smaller version of this pot. Please note that only the larger version of the pot is included in this listing.
The pot features double sided advertising for the Grey Poupon brand of Dijon mustard. The detail in this French advertising logos is striking, with a grapevine circling a shield on the front of the pot, and a ribbon banner around the top of the pot. On the reverse side is the Art Deco style logo for the company.
These white ironstone French advertising pots are very collectable, making wonderful display items which are also perfect for use as bud vases.
This is a more recent version of the pot, most likely dating from the mid to late 20th Century. I suspect it was produced by the company as a special edition homage to their older pots. This has been used, and there is some wear to the cork on the underside from contact with food. The inside of the pot would also benefit from soaking, however overall the piece is very clean.
