This is a wonderful and rare example of an antique carved English wooden butter dish or board, dating from the early 20th Century, in a rare octagonal shape.
This deeply carved treen butter dish features intricate detail of a leaf garland around its border, with each of the leaves mirroring a side of the dish.
The carving is excellent, with fabulous detail and shape on each of the leaves which lay upon each other around the board.
This butter dish is in excellent condition considering its age and appears to have seen hardly any use. It includes an original blue and white willow patterned liner by George Jones of Stoke and Trent, which is also in excellent condition.
Width, 18.5cm at its widest point; Height, 2.5cm
