Moody Antique French Floral Still Life on Canvas

A gorgeous still life oil painting on canvas of flowers in a green jug.

Dating to the early 20th Century, this French piece uses thick and confident impasto strokes to bring the burnt orange flowers to life. It's a fabulous moody palette of greens, oranges and burgundy.

It's in fair vintage condition for its age. There are a couple of small areas to top and left of the flowers where there is a small section of damage to the canvas, although this hasn't pierced through. Some of the paint has fallen away, mostly on the petals, but this doesn't look out of place and indeed adds to the effect of the petals. There are also some age cracks to the paint in places.

A lovely honest piece, perfect for adding a moodier feel to a room.
