A lovely example of a scarce and highly sought after white ironstone patisserie stand, dating from the early 20th Century, with tea stained colouring.
Carrying the mark of Petrus Regout, of Maastricht in the Netherlands, this beautiful Dutch plain white cake stand is one of the largest I have sourced, and is rare to see with a beautiful scalloped edge.
Ironstone patisserie stands like this are such desirable items. They create a real centre piece or focal point for a table display and also are amazing items to have on display, perhaps as part of a kitchenalia collection, when not in use.
Given the age f this item, it has had some wear through its lifetime. Most notable, there is staining, discolouration and light crazing all over this piece. This is more notable on the top of the stand where it has come into contact with grease and butter. This doesn't affect its use in any way and is a unique characteristic. There is also a small chip to the edge of the stand. However, this blends in with the staining on the piece. There are no other chips or cracks, and it is still a highly desirable and beautiful item. Nonetheless, the pricing of this item does reflect the level of wear to it.
