Antique White Ironstone Maling Cetem Ware Storage Jar

A nice example of an early 20th Century plain white banded Edwardian ironstone storage jar.

Bearing the Maling Cetem Ware mark to its base, this style of pot is now very difficult to find, especially in this cute smaller size.

White ironstone storage jars like this were popular in the early part of the twentieth Century, when foodstuffs were often sold in loose measures in local grocers shops. These types of pots are becoming harder and harder to source, especially in such clean condition as this.

Although the jar does show signs of use and wear from over the years, on the whole it is in very clean condition. There are patches of crazing all over and some minor areas of staining. The lid has suffered a little damage, with some knocks and a small chip to the edge of the knob. There is a small crack on the underside of the lid but this doesn't penetrate all the way through. And overall, these faults aren't overly notable when positioned around the back of the pot.
