Antique Victorian Wooden Flummery Mould with Star Decoration

A rare example of a late 19th Century carved wooden flummery mould.

Made of beechwood, this mould features a nice star design on its base. Designed for making flummery, this was a dessert popular at the time based on a combination of eggs, milk and sugar.

This mould has a lovely honey coloured patina to it. Signs of age are evident in two small cracks to the top rim of the mould, however these are stable and not significant. The mould could still be used, perhaps for butter. The outer casing of the mould has a nice turned finish near the base.
