Antique Victorian Salt Glazed Pitcher by Copeland
Antique Victorian Salt Glazed Pitcher by Copeland
A stunning example of a salt glazed stoneware pitcher with a pewter lid, dating from the 1860s.
This creamy coloured pitcher has a pewter lid, helping to ensure milk, cream or syrup stays fresh. Featuring excellent detailing of flowers sitting amongst a basket weave pattern, it’s a highly decorative and very striking pitcher.
Produced by renowned makers Copeland, the diamond date mark on the base of this jug dates it to 1864. Considering its age, it is in particularly excellent condition and is very clean. There are no cracks and the pewter lid is in excellent working order. There are some nibbles and a small chip to the base rim, but this is unsurprising given the age of the piece.
