This is a quality piece of antique treen kitchenalia dating from the late nineteenth Century, with rarely seen beautifully detailed carving of a cow by a gate in a meadow.

This large sized hardwood butter stamp or butter mould has a lovely warm patina and feel to it, with the carving of a cow in a meadow in lovely detail.

The carvings on stamps like these often denoted the type of farm the butter came from. Unsurprisingly, a cow signified a predominantly dairy farm.

Antique butter stamps look lovely displayed as part of a kitchenalia collection. And they are also good to use as biscuit stamps; they work particularly well on shortbread.

The butter print is in good condition considering its age. The face of the stamp is in excellent condition still, with no cracks. However, the back of the stamp, as well as the handle, has a number of old worm holes but these have been treated and filled. There are also more notable scratches and wear to the handle but it is in solid condition.
