A nice example of a late Victorian carved bread knife with carved flower detail.

Made by MG Long & Co, of Sheffield, the steel blade also has the engravers initials, which is rare to see. The blade is tarnished from contact with water over the years, but is still extremely sharp.

The handle has detail of a carved rosette, set against a background of wheat and barley, with a rounded finial end. Originally this would have been very deep but this has now worn with use. However, the patterns are still identifiable.

The knife is in fair condition for its age. Although the carving has faded, it is still a nice feature. The blade usable and it has been well fitted to the handle.

Length, 30cm; Width, 3cm at widest point of blade
