Antique Victorian Carved English Bread Knife

A wonderful English nicely carved wooden bread knife, dating from the latter part of the 1800s.

This Victorian treen bread knife, with its carved “BREAD" handle is in wonderful condition for its age. With a finial end, the quality hardwood handle is still nice and clear and has a wonderful mellow finish and feel to it, and is attached to the blade with a quality joint, highlighting the handmade nature of the knife. The handle has a lovely rich colour to it still.

The steel blade is tarnished in places from contact with water over the years. But the name of the maker, Naylor of Sheffield, can be seen etched into it. The tip of the final end has suffered a very small amount of loss but still looks finished off handsomely.

In summary, this is an excellent piece of antique treen kitchenalia which will look lovely on display but is also good for ongoing day to day use.
