A nice example of an antique late Victorian breadboard, dating from around 1900, with a rarely seen “Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread" motto around the border.
English bread boards with mottos carved into them are becoming increasingly difficult to source. This is a particularly rare example, with the whole border taken up with a beautifully carved motto in gothic stylised script. And while there is some general wear to the board, the lettering is still very clear. It’s a perfect board to use when entertaining with friends and family.
The board is in overall good condition. There are knife marks and wear from use but these are mainly focused on the edge of the central part of the board. There are two small old age cracks on opposite sides of the board but these don't affect its integrity in any way. Although the board does sit flat overall, it is slightly wider than it is tall and can be pushed down on one side. However, it is still very usable.
A great opportunity to purchase a rare piece of antique kitchenalia which is a wonderful item both to have on display and continue to use.
