A fabulous example of an antique French timeworn ironstone bowl, produced by Moulin Des Loups et Hammage in the early to mid 20th Century.
This is a striking decorative item. With a red spongeware border, the main focus of the bowl is a hand painted chicken which takes centre stage. Dating from the 1930s or 40s, this bowl has a distinctive folk art feel to it.
The piece has a rustic feel to it, having weathered and worn naturally over the years. Most notably, there is heavy timeworn staining and crazing all over, although this blends in perfectly with the decoration. There are no cracks but there is one chip to the edge of the top rim which is about 1cm in width.
Diameter, 19.7cm; Height, 7cm
