Dating from the early 20th Century, this is a very pretty French ironstone ravier, with a more unusual pattern than most you see and with some lovely aged colouring.
With a blue transferware pattern and a central design of a basket filled with fish, this little dish was designed to serve appetisers and canapes on, most likely with fish or seafood.
The plate is in excellent order, with no cracks or chips. But there is light surface crazing all over, which has patches of mild staining. But this does add to the natural timeworn feel of the plate.
A beautiful dish which is perfect as serving or snack dish, and also for trinkets.
