A very rare large Belgian white ironstone banded dairy or butter bowl, in excellent condition with barrel band detailing.

Made by Boch Les Freres, of Belgium, in the early 1900s, this is a great large sized banded dairy bowl. Highly sought after by collectors, since they look fabulous on display, these large dairy bowls - which would have been used the make butter - are getting harder to find. They are ideal for use as fruit bowls or for chilling wine or champagne. Alternatively, they display well with flowers or plants in them.

Considering the age of this piece, it is in very good condition, with no chips, cracks or crazing. There is some general wear to the base rim, plus some firing marks to the glaze in places. These are more notable on one end, where there is a line running down the side of the bowl. There are also age spots and discolouration to the bowl in places. This is more notable on the inside, but patches can also be seen on the outside. These are grease marks from where the butter bowl was used in the past. It's still perfectly usable now.

Overall, despite the discolouration, it is still a clean white ironstone piece and would look very handsome on display.
